The first volume of Chesterton’s brilliant, ingenious Father Brown stories

“Whenever possible Chesterton made his points with popular sayings, proverbs, allegories—first carefully turning them inside out.”

—Time Magazine

The Innocence of Father Brown (1911) is the first volume of Chesterton’s brilliant, ingenious Father Brown stories. With his round face, pipe and umbrella, the shambling, bespectacled priest Father Brown is an unlikely detective – yet his innocent air hides a razor-sharp understanding of the criminal mind. As this first volume of his adventures shows, the wise, worldly clerical sleuth has an uncanny ability to bring even the most elusive wrongdoer to justice.

It contains:

THE BLUE CROSS

THE SECRET GARDEN

THE QUEER FEET

THE FLYING STARS

THE INVISIBLE MAN

THE HONOUR OF ISRAEL GOW

THE WRONG SHAPE

THE SINS OF PRINCE SARADINE

THE HAMMER OF GOD

THE EYE OF APOLLO

THE SIGN OF THE BROKEN SWORD

THE THREE TOOLS OF DEATH
